Posted by funny on August 12, 2010 in Fundraising Videos with No Comments

Gayla Peevey (born 1943) is perhaps best known for her song, “I Want a Hippopotamus for Christmas” (Columbia, 1953). A child star from Ponca City, Oklahoma, she was ten years old when she recorded the novelty song, which had been written by John Rox in 1950. The Oklahoma City Zoo capitalized upon the popularity of the song in 1953 through a fundraising campaign to “buy a hippo for Gayla” in order to bring a hippo to the zoo. (They had no hippopotamus at the time.) The song raised $3000. A baby hippo, named Matilda, was procured and flown in to Oklahoma City and presented by Peevey to the zoo.

This is the opening of a clip from a speech by Judge Andrew Napolitano, a contributor to Fox News. Don’t be fooled by the fact that most Fox folks are scum since the Left vs. Right crap just teaches us to stop listening to each other instead of figuring out how we’re both screwed, he’s also one of the biggest defenders of the constitution and rights and freedoms in the world. You can see the full speech here and another more recent brilliant speech below it: Andrew Napolitano at FFF Conference, Part 1 of 4 www.youtube.com . NAPOLITANO AT REASON IN DC Fox News legal analyst Judge Andrew Napolitano is among the fiercest defenders of individual rights. Both in his daily appearances on the country’s most-watched cable news network and in a series of books (most recently, A Nation of Sheep), Napolitano consistently and defiantly argues that the only legitimate government is that which respects its citizens rights in all cases. In late October, Napolitano gave the keynote address at the conference Reason in DC, where he delivered a spellbinding speech that blended a masterful understanding of American history with a blazing outrage at the excesses of the new security state. “Who is the greatest violator of the Constitution?” asks Napolitano. “George W. Bush has shown less fidelity to the Constitution than any president since Abraham Lincoln.” Click to view the Judge’s speech (approx 40 minutes). reason.tv .
